The Office of the Dean is pleased to announce the following FY18 staff promotions. Please join us in congratulating your colleagues on their promotions and outstanding efforts.
Ferida Demir: Ms. Demir began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2011 as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, at the Dental Health Center at 930 Commonwealth Avenue. She has been promoted to Senior Assistant Coordinator, at the Dental Health Center, where she will continue to report into Gordana Mujcin, Clinic Manager of the Dental Health Center. In Ferida’ s new role, she will be responsible for managing the clinical care staffing and support functions of the delivery of care within the Orthodontic Department at the Dental Health Center, ensuring patient visits are without interruption and delivered with the best care possible.
Helen Edwards: Ms. Edwards began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2012, as a Manager of Program Evaluation, in the Office of Academic Affairs, reporting to Grace Elson, Assistant Director. Helen has been promoted to Assistant Director of Curriculum and Program Evaluation, in the Office of Academic Affairs. In her new role, she will plan, manage and execute the processes for annual evaluations of courses and related educational activities. She will be responsible to provide guidance, direction and development opportunities to the Program Analysts on survey design improvements, data construction, data analysis, and report interpretation. Helen is also responsible for the management of the ExamSoft assessment system. In this role she provides coordination, training, and technical support to faculty and student users of this online testing program.
Stephanie Grignet: Ms. Grignet began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2014 as a Business Manager for Continuing Education. Stephanie has been promoted to Assistant Director, Continuing Education, and will continue to report to Gurjinder Gill, Director of Business and Strategic Planning and Implementation. The Assistant Director is responsible for the business management of the Continuing Education programs and courses. Stephanie will work closely with the Director and Assistant Dean of Business Development towards successful development and implementation of marketing and operational strategy for Continuing Education.
Carmella Gross: Ms. Gross has been promoted to Clinical Assistant Supervisor, in the 7th Floor Dental Health Center, where she will report into Practice Manager, Hollie Faria. In Carmela’s new role, she is responsible for the continued development of the Dental Assistants, and Hygienists, with infection control and sterilization protocols and training, and DPH regulations. She will work closely with the Practice Manager to ensure the clinic is staffed appropriately with dental assistants and hygienists. Carmella began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine as a dental assistant in 1998.
Luz Lebron: Ms. Lebron has been promoted to Administrative Manager for the Division of Postdoctoral Prosthodontic in the Department of Restorative Sciences & Biomaterials and will continue to report to Dr. Hiroshi Hirayama, Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Prosthodontics. In Luz’s new role, she is responsible to oversee and manage the administrative and operational activities in the Prosthodontic Division. Luz began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2005.
Alicia Berube Petrin: Ms. Berube Petrin began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2014, as a Patient Coordinator, at the Dental Health Center at 930 Commonwealth Avenue. In 2016, she subsequently accepted the Senior Administrative Assistant position, in the Office of Business Development. She was most recently promoted to Program Supervisor, for the Office of Continuing Education, where she will report to Stephanie Grignet, Assistant Director, Continuing Education. In Alicia’s new role, she will be the point of contact for all potential participants of GSDM’s Continuing Education programs and courses. She will primarily be responsible for the planning, scheduling and successful implementation of the department’s programs, providing exceptional service experience to dentists and non-dentists seeking a lifelong learning experience.
Alexandra Singer: Ms. Singer has been promoted to Lead Designer from her previous role as Designer in the Department of Communications. Ms. Singer began her career at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in July 2015. In her new role, she will be responsible for designing and overseeing production of various print, web site design, digital graphics and e-communications supporting the School’s communications and marketing initiatives.
Sarah Sohm: Ms. Sohm has been promoted to Translational Research Grant Administrator from her previous role as Grant/Research Coordinator in the Office of the Associate Dean for Research. Ms. Sohm began her career at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in December 2013. In her new position, Ms. Sohm will continue to report to Ms. Barbara Pyke, Associate Director in the Office of the Associate Dean for Research. Ms. Sohm will be responsible for providing grant submission and administration support, as well as translational research guidance, to the Principal Investigators at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
Larissa Weiner: Ms. Weiner began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2012 as a Financial Coordinator, in the Office of Clinical Finance. She subsequently worked as a Patient Coordinator for the 7th Floor Dental Health Center, from February 2016-February 2017. As of February 2017, Ms. Weiner accepted the position of Clinic and Administrative Manager, in the Department Periodontology, which resulted in a promotion. In her new role, she will be responsible for the financial and administrative activity for the Periodontology Clinic and Academic Office. She will also manage the Periodontal Admissions process along with the department chair, and clinical director arranging interviews, and providing follow up to applicants.
Elizabeth (Liza) Young: Ms. Young has been promoted to Academic Affairs Manager in the Office of Academic Affairs, and will continue to report to Grace Elson, Assistant Director, in the Office of Academic Affairs. In Liza’s new role, she is responsible for the planning and execution of the annual new student orientation program, the clinical rotation schedule for the internal GSDM department rotations, the 8-week external clinical rotation through Global Programs Office at various community sites, and the postdoctoral interdisciplinary course scheduling process. Liza began working at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2010 in the former Office of Advanced Education.
