Senior Weekend for the Class of 2014 began Friday, May 9, 2014, with two celebratory social events. The DMD class attended their final ASDA Hour and enjoyed tapas at Estragon. That evening, the Advanced Standing class held a graduation party at Umbria Prime in Boston.
Alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and pre-doctoral students met the next day at Norwood Country Club for the fifth annual ASDA Golf Tournament. Past champions The English Farewell Tour reclaimed their title, with members Ray English, Josh Gilbert, Steve Melnic, and Richard Zavada, all DMD 14. Also a winner, was our ASDA chapter, who raised more than $10,000 from the tournament. This is the highest total to date.
A “best dressed” award went to Andrew Grinsell DMD 17, for his all-orange “highlighter” ensemble. Alexandra Costa DMD 14 won the Ladies’ Long Drive contest and Josh Gilbert DMD 14 won the Men’s Long Drive. John Vasko DMD 15 won the putting contest and Eamon Chory DMD 15 won Closest to the Pin. BOSS Squad—Andrew Grinsell, Joe Lindberg, Garrett Russikoff, and Garret Wingrove (all DMD 2017)—won the Ethics and Professionalism Award. Dr. John Guarente won an auction for Red Sox tickets.
Students finished the weekend at the BU Pub, where Student Affairs, Development & Alumni Relations, and the University Development Office hosted the Senior BBQ. Each student received a commemorative glass stein as a senior gift from the School.
