On January 25, 2018, members of the American Association of Women Dentists AAWD chapter of the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) were hosted at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for the Women’s Summit, one of many multi-school events to be held in 2018. Other AAWD chapters in attendance were from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, and the University of New England College of Dental Medicine.
The AAWD’s mission is to continue being the leading resource for advancing, connecting and enriching the lives of women dentists. The Association serves its members by offering a variety of programs and services that benefit the special needs of the busy woman dentist.
The speakers included AAWD National President, Dr. Tamara Berg and Dr. Judy Fisch of the American Dental Association (ADA) First District. Dr. Fisch also serves on the ADA Board of Trustees as the Trustee for the ADA First District. The students were accompanied by their respective Faculty Advisors and the meeting revolved around important topics like balancing student life, managing finances upon graduation and the #MeToo movement and its implications on the work ethic within the dental profession.
The meeting was a great success, and students are now gearing up to attend the 9th Annual AAWD Brunch hosted by GSDM scheduled to take place on April 8, 2018.
