On Saturday, January 27, 2018, the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) was represented at the American College of Dentists (ACD) Senior Awards Brunch by Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter, and our honoree, Scott Jegard DMD 18.
In introducing Mr. Jegard as the Senior Award recipient from the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Dean Hutter informed the audience that he had graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2014. After coming to Boston and GSDM, Mr. Jegard became active in our School and community. He is a member of the American Student Dental Association serving as a member and Co-President of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) / American Student Dental Association (ASDA) Dental Education Committee; a member of the ASDA Pre-Dental Committee; and an active participant and supporter of the ASDA Community Outreach Program. Mr. Jegard also attended the 2017 ADEA Annual Session, 2017 ASDA District I Leadership Conference, 2016 ASDA National Leadership Conference, 2016 ASDA National Lobby Day in Washington DC, the 2015 ADEA Fall Session, and the Yankee Dental Congress every year since his first year at GSDM.
As is the case with all GSDM students, community service and outreach are of the utmost importance to Mr. Jegard. He designed an educational program regarding oral health for local school children, and most recently traveled to Manipal, India through the GSDM International Elective Exchange Externship. This Spring, he will be traveling on another externship trip to Guatemala, with the “Dentistry for All,” program.
Every year the America College of Dentists, New England Section, presents the Senior Dental Student Awards to a deserving senior dental student from Boston University, Harvard University, Tufts University, New England University and the University of Connecticut.
