Hello! Goodbye! The Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Advanced Specialty Education Program in Endodontics opened the year with a joint hello/goodbye party celebrating the new Endodontic residents and honoring the graduating residents. The event was held in the Student Village 1 ballroom overlooking the Charles River on Thursday, June 26, 2014. It was hosted by Dr. Sami Chogle, Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Endodontics and the GSDM Endodontic Alumni Association.

This was the first time the department hosted a hello/goodbye party which included outgoing, present, and future classes together in one celebration.

Filling in at the last minute for Director Dr. Sami Chogle, whose wife gave birth to a baby boy earlier that day, Dr. Louis Abrass, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics and Clinical Director of the Post-doctoral Endodontic Treatment Center, welcomed the approximately 100 guests and thanked the faculty, staff, and volunteers for all of their hard work.

He then introduced Dean Hutter, who congratulated the residents on their accomplishments, stating that the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine Endodontics program is one of the most prestigious and respected endodontics programs worldwide and that they should be very proud of themselves. He also praised the faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication in support of the residents and the program.

Dr. Marshall Michaelian (ENDO 79), Endodontic Alumni Association President, then spoke to the incoming and outgoing residents about being difference makers in their own communities. He quoted Admiral William McRaven, who said, “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”

Prior to recognizing the graduates, a very special anniversary was celebrated. Dr. Seymour Melnick, a volunteer in the endodontics department, was honored for his 35th year anniversary of volunteering in the department. A cake was presented and everyone sang him an enthusiastic happy birthday.

Dr. Abrass and Dr. Moulazadeh then presented the CAGS Class of 2014 with their certificates: Ashraf Abd-Elmeguid, Mey AIhabib, Jennifer Kim, Jose Line LeDuc, Christian Morasse, Roshanak Baghai Naini, Manal Saadoun, Arman Sa mad-Zadeh, Pablo Duluc Vega, and Eugenia Yang.

The new research residents were then introduced: Jomana Alsenan, Mona Haghani, and Dina Husein.

Finally, the entering class of 2016 was introduced: Mohamed Jamal Ahmed, Munirah Almershed, Rayan Bahabri, Nauman Chatha, Nedda Hifeda, Jung Ah Lee, Evan Novick, Neda Rajablou, Tammam Sheabar, and John Workman.
