Career Fair-200

Students and representatives network at the Career Fair

As the Class of 2014 prepares to graduate in about three months, they look toward their opportunities after leaving the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. The School’s fourth annual Career Fair, presented by Student Affairs, showed them some of their options on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in Hiebert Lounge.

“The event gives students a chance to network with employers and explore the various practice opportunities that await them upon graduation,” said Assistant Dean of Students Dr. Joseph Calabrese.

All pre- and post-doctoral students were invited, not just those graduating this May. Students learned about different practice settings, practiced networking skills, and started to build a professional network.

A total of 130 students came to the Career Fair. Champaka Nagaraju won the raffle for a Kindle Fire, donated by American Dental Partners. Behram Shah won an iPad, donated by Jefferson Dental Clinics.

Vendors came from group practices, organized dentistry, and the US military. They included:

American Dental Partners, Inc., Aspen Dental, Connecticut State Dental Society, Dental Corporation of Canada, Dental Dreams, Eastern Dentists Insurance Company (EDIC), Familia Dental, Gentle Dental, Great Expressions Dental Centers, Heartland Dental, Hillcrest Dental Healthcare, Inc., Jefferson Dental Clinics, Kool Smiles, Lutheran Medical Center Dept. of Dental Medicine, Massachusetts Dental Society, Medical Protective, Ocean Dental, Smile Brands, Inc., the US Air Force, the US Army Health Care Team, US Navy Medical Programs, Vermont State Dental Society, and Western Dental.

“It is critical that we not only prepare our students for their careers with a good education, but also provide them with every possible opportunity to access the type of dental career that will be the best fit for them,” said Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter. “The annual Career Fair is a wonderful way to help our students make educated choices about what they will do following graduation.”
